I’ve been designing hats this week. 2 to be exact. I’ve also got mittens on the brain since it’s kind of chilly in my car in the mornings now and I was thinking that I really needed mittens on my way to class the other day. So, hats and mittens. That’s what is on the design board for this week.

Hat patterns that will be released in the next few days/week:

The Esker Hat

Esker Hat1

Esker Hat 2

This hat features a flat knit band that is seamed together at the ends and then picked up stitches for the crown in a fun chevron-eque pattern. It goes super quick and is the best fitting hat I own currently because of the shape of it, instead of sitting like a bucket on the top of your head the band lets it sit more like a cloche. Despite the odd construction it’s very easy to knit and only took me a few hours to work up. The sample is knit up in Malabrigo Worsted (mmmmalabrigo.)

The Nature Hike Hat

This one features a really simple but very pretty lace pattern and really quick crown decreases for a gathered look in the back. Also a very quick  knit, worked up in a handful of hours too. Which is why I just love hats! They’re so quick! This one would make a great transition season hat, it’s not super warm thanks to all the holes but looks very cute on and does add a bit of warmth around the ears and top of the head. This one is knit up in Alchemy Wabi Sabi (wool/silk aran weight) and took just at one ball (86 yards) on US9 needles.

Both of these patterns are currently being tested by my team of highly skilled slave labor, volunteer test knitters. Hoping to be able to release them both by midweek barring a catastrophic error in the patterns. Uber Tester, Teri and I are still working the kinks out of the (working name) Color Weave Socks and I hope that pattern will be available for release sometime in the near future as well. She’s given me a pretty comprehensive pattern back after her notes but I’m looking for another set of eyes to test her changes and my original pattern to check for clarity. In yarn news: I was finally able to dye up the yarns for Novembers Choose Your Own Adventure Club offerings. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them this month, the little break from dying did me some good I think. I also dyed up a bunch of other one of a kind hanks on a variety of weights, some of which will be available at Knit Las Vegas by tomorrow or Monday and some will be in my www.buydanido.com shop. I’ve also got a few new tea blends going up in the shop as well in time for the holidays. I’ll be putting together samplers for some of my more popular tea blends as well in one cup servings so you can get a variety of the blends to try out.

I’ll let everyone know when these patterns go live!
