Highly Motivated
Evidently I’ve been bitten by the motivation bug. Which is kind of nice. I’ve been designing patterns left right and center, cooking, mixing up teas, finishing projects and papers for school. I’m on a roll!
We’ll start with another installment of ‘Cooking with Dani’, last night for dinner I made Spice Rubbed Pork Chops, red skinned garlic mashed potatoes and a basil veggie medley. For the chops I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out very good however if I do them again (and I probably will) I would add a smidge more brown sugar and/or a tad less of the spices because the spice flavor was a little bit overwhelming. I doubled the spice rub portion to make 4 chops instead of two and there was plenty enough for all four decent sized chops. Fried in a teensy bit of EVOO made these very moist but also pretty low fat as well.
I just reheated half of this chop for lunch and it was just as delicious today as it was last night! A wonderful recipe.
Keeping in the food mood, I also mixed up a new tea blend that’s available at www.buydanido.com. It’s a sweeter take on my Mumbai Herbal blend but it’s still naturally caffeine free. It’s ‘Mumbai at Dusk’ and is all the wonderful flavors of the Mumbai blend but with roobios (red) tea as well and a few new spices.
It’s very fragrant and super sweet all by itself, no honey or sugar needed! I added a splash of cream to a cup the other night and it was basically a dessert in a cup! A great afternoon or evening tea, perfect for chilly nights in front of the fire (or the t.v. set in my case) with some knitting.
And now! Another new design! This time it’s mittens, I don’t have a name for the pattern yet so it’s currently ‘Working Title Mittens’, I quite like how these turned out. They have French cuffs with snaps on the inside and a button for embellishment. Aside from the cabled cuff they are very straightforward and quick mittens to work up, could easily be done as a last minute holiday gift. The pattern was sent to testers this morning so I’m hoping to have it released by late next week and no later than the first of December.
This one was knit with Malabrigo Worsted (the same ball as the Esker Hat) on 6s and 7s. I’m going to have to cast on for the 2nd one today if I want to end up with a pair, which I really do because they are so soft, so squishy and so stylish. Plus it is seriously getting chilly in my car in the mornings!
