Yesterday I released the Nature Hike Hat (or you can download straight to your library on Ravelry here) for free! So far it is my most downloaded pattern, even among my free ones, by far. Yesterday alone there were over 160 downloads through Ravelry and we’re well on our way to 100 today. Since I’m trying to make a living with my designing, dying and other fiber art skills I won’t be releasing patterns for free very often but every once in awhile a pattern is so simple and so much fun that I want it to be accessible to everyone. Hence the Nature Hike Hat. I want to thank my testers (among those who have blogs is Anna Marie of The Chicks with Sticks) for helping me work the kinks out. If you’re looking for a last minute gift for the holidays this hat might just be it, it took me about a day to knit up on US9’s (use US10’s for a larger size) and only took 1 ball of bulky yarn. Can’t get much cheaper/quicker than that!
The Esker Hat pattern should be out in a few days, one of my testers (the fabulous Laura Marie) has already finished hers and reported no problems (but she and I think/knit eerily alike so I’m sure she just read my mind and knew how the hat should be knit). One of my new favoritest people ever, Chelsea of YarnGeek is also testing this one for me and she gave some great pointers on how to clarify parts of the pattern. We also have one more tester, April Raven (she does not appear to have a blog, but the link will take you to her twitter feed.) who is plugging away on the hat as well. As soon as all the notes come in and edits have been made it’ll be available for sale as well.
I am still looking for one more person to test the Color Weave Socks for me, please please please if you’re interested let me know.
On to more designs! I’m working up some ideas for this yarn:
It’s Unique Sheep Green Sheep Sport in one of their gorgeous gradiance colorways: Vivian. I had been toying with the idea of a hat around in my mind before this yarn came yesterday but when I opened up the package and saw this gorgeous squishy yarn mittens came to mind. So I’m torn, I’m not sure which one this yarn will become, but either way it’s going to be awesome and comfy and warm.
Speaking of beautiful Unique Sheep yarn, I’m part of their Sip n Stitch club and I got this wonderful package in the mail on Saturday:
Is there anything more perfect that coffee AND yarn in the same box? I don’t think so. The yarn is gorgeous (and on one of my favorite bases, Luxe, a tussah silk/merino blend) and the coffee (which I am drinking as I type this) is delicious. So glad I paid for this club when I had money a few months ago because now that I’m broke it’s going to be super nice to get a box each month full of awesomeness that I can’t afford.
