I am seriously on a roll, I’m trying to get all these designs out, down on paper and published before they go away. I’m terrified I’ll wake up one day and all my knitterly inspiration will be gone and I’ll be trapped knitting garter stitch wash clothes and stockinette beanies for the rest of my life. In the meantime however the Sock From Hell, I mean the Previously Named Colorweave Socks Now Called Chopstick Socks pattern has been released.
Behold!

I’m still plugging away on the new design knit up in the Unique Sheep yarn, at present it is something between a cowl, neckwarmer, shoulder wrap and shawl. I like it. Though it’s kind of ambiguous as to what it will actually end up being. I love the color of it though and the yarn is so squishy I just want to feather my nest with it and snuggle down for the winter. Still no pictures since it doesn’t look like much right now since there is lace involved and until it’s blocked it will just look like a pile of yarn. Soon though, I am nearing the end of the first part of the project. I have plans for a set of coordinating mittens to go along with it.
I also have a hank of gorgeous handspun yarn from Fibro Fibers that I will be designing something out of as well. If you had 150 yards of fingering weight handspun in ridiculously soft BFL what would you make? A cowl? A hat? Mittens? 1 sock? When you go to buy handspun yarn what sorts of things do you prefer to knit out of it?
You know what, let’s make this a contest. We haven’t done one of those in awhile. Tell me what type of thing you would knit out of 150 yards of fingering weight hand spun (or yarn of any kind) by leaving a message on this blog post and next Monday I will pick a winner. The winner will get a copy of one of my existing patterns and a copy of the pattern that I design with this handspun. Winner will be drawn randomly from a comment.
(I didn’t get a picture of my hank of this handspun, but this is basically what it looks like)

I think I would knit this. The colors of the yarn remind me of fall leaves, and this would be beautiful….

That is just beautiful. I know this would make a beautiful shawlette, like this one:

I agree, this yarn looks perfect for a shawlette!
Supersoft? I’d want that next to my skin. Definitely a cowl or neckwarmer with a coordinating button / pretty pin. I would design a lacey leaf pattern or maybe a wheat sheaf motif to show off that golden color. Thanks for a fun contest!
Ginger cat!
(amigurumi)
either miniature, or a change in my usual pattern to make a bigger critter…
lacy scarf/shawlette.
Wow, it’s so pretty! If it were me, I’d probably make a pair of gloves or fingerless mitts with a very subtle design. Nothing too fancy.
I could see this as a beautiful, flapperesque lace cloche.
I would think wanting it next to my skin a nice simple fingerless glove so i can wear them on my hands while i crochet or knit in the cold.
I think it would be perfect for a neckerchief or a cowl.
Hmm… personally I think a small “woven” texture handbag would look great in those colors, and would show off the spin. It’s got some beautiful fall tones to it. Knitted on small needles, it’ll have a tight weave, and then can be lined for an elegant finish
i am working on the zigzag neck cowl off rav. It takes about 120 yards and knits up nicely, looks cool too and nice to keep or for a little gift!
So gorgeous! The color makes me think of golden autumn leaves. I think I’d want to make a cowl/neckwarmer with it, and make it lacy and pretty. Nothing too fancy, but a little lacework would really be perfect.
The color is beautiful and I want to make socks or fingerless gloves.
Oooh pretty!! FYI: I nominated you for the Kreative Blogger award
Shawlette design all the way! Or neck kerchief.
This calls for exactly 150 yds of fingering weight. The Little Flower Doily (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-little-flower-doily)
Fingerless mitts – because my darling Neatnik asked for a pair recently and since she’s got little 7 year old hands, that’s plenty enough yarn to make them.
Love the chopstick pattern – it’s great!
Here are a couple of patterns that I think would work nicely for your handspun:

Can’t wait to see what you choose!
Something this lovely needs to be displayed, so I would go with a cowl, hat or fingerless gloves. If your hands are small, you can make a pair of the simple filigree hand warmers, or maybe the beaded lace wristlets (I love beads in knitting!). I also like the Abstract Leaves Cowl, and I think someone already suggested the dayflower cowl. You also might be able to squeeze out a ground flower hat, and really show it off. The yarn is lovely!
