Changes are happening folks, not big changes but lots of little changes. I’m gearing up for the end of this semester and preparing myself for next semester which is going to be very busy and very interesting. In between the end of this semester and the beginning of next I’ve got a lot of stuff planned that I want to accomplish. I’m going to be stocking www.buydanido.com with a ton of new yarn, rovings & batts, tea, soap and patterns. I’m going to be setting up kits for the Bebeh Earflaps pattern and will hopefully be able to work out a suitable substitute hand dyed yarn for some of my other patterns as well.
The Choose Your Own Adventure Club is once again taking new members, we’ve got about 6 spots available in the yarn club and plenty of room in the fiber club if you’re interested get your order in soon and you can be included in the January shipment. (December club is shipping this week.) I’ve got some great goodies that will be coming with December/January shipments. The club is going to be getting much better in the very near future as well and I have plans to work on a separate website devoted to the club itself so that there is a place for members to hang out, chat, discuss what they’re making with club yarns/fiber, recommend artists to be featured or nature type things to be featured and so on. This would be going much more quickly if I had any ability whatsoever at web design. I do not, so it’s slow going.
I will be making a triumphant return to the Phat Fiber sampler box this month, I’ll be donating 50-60 hard copies of one of my patterns. I got the hard copies printed and received them yesterday and I am very very impressed with how well they turned out. This small run of printing was my test run with this company to see if I’d be using them for future printings, I am incredibly impressed with the ease of placing the order, the price, the turn around time and the actual end product so I will definitely be placing a larger order in January to get hard copies printed of each of my patterns. I will be making hard copies of my patterns so that I can start selling them to yarn shops, I am currently working up my catalog and rate sheet so if you know of a LYS that may be interested in receiving information about carrying my patterns please let me know I’m hoping to send out that information to a small selection of yarn shops around the county starting in January. Also if you know of any online retailers that might be interested in carrying the digital version of my patterns as well (while still allowing me to retain rights to the pattern) please let me know as well, I’m still incredibly new to this game and have no idea how to go about getting distribution deals set up.
Speaking of my designs, I was recently featured in an issue of Knitting Purls (click that link, then download the most recent issue, Volume 2, Number 6) along with several other wildly talented knit and crochet designers. A must read publication for anyone interested in keeping current on what’s happening in the fiber arts community.
I’m excited about the coming year, 2010 is going to be the year of making my business better and of refocusing on the things that are most important: my family, my education and my personal career objectives. I am excited, enthusiastic and ready to get started!

Vickie, thanks for the tip! As soon as I have the rate sheet up I’ll send it in to that shop. It looks super cute! Bakersfield is even close enough that I could feasibly take a trip up there to visit the shop sometime! -Dani
