Squared Check Version:

Errata: For ‘Squared Check’ version it has been noted that there is a problem with the numbers being right. You will need 24 sts to work the patterned section. You can accomplish this 2 ways: a) while increasing for the strap increase out to 23 as in plain version and then in the row before the patterned section add one more st (either kfb or m1 in your preferred method) in the middle of the row so that your cozy doesn’t lean to one side) this is the way I would recommend so your cozy isn’t too big. b)If you are using smaller needles/yarn then you can increase out to 25 and decrease 1 in the middle of the row by k2tog to end up with 24 sts. Thank you to all of you who have brought this discrepancy to my attention! I appreciate it! Happy knitting.

Next row (RS): knit
Row 2: purl
Row 3: k2, *p8, k2* twice (24 sts)
Row 4: p2, *k8, p2* twice
Row 5, 7 and 9: k2, *p2, k4, p2, k2* twice
Row 6, 8, and 10: p2, *k2, p4, k2, p2* twice
Row 11: rep row 3
Row 12: rep row 4

Rep these 12 rows 3 more times (or until desired length.)
Begin decreases:
Row 1 and all RS rows: k1,ssk twice, knit to last 5, k2tog twice, k1
Row 2 and all WS rows: purl
Rep until you have 11 sts remaining
Knit even in stockinette for 6 rows.
Knit garter st for 4 rows.

Bind off.

Weave in ends and block flat.

Place first button at the end of the flap with no button hole, place second button about 1 inch from the first, and the third button another inch from the second button. This will make the sleeve adjustable for three different sizes of cups.
