Flounce Neckwarmer

Price: $5.00

Is there a better word than ‘flounce’ for something that is frilly, fun and well, flouncy? I don’t think so. This neck warmer is all those things. Much fancier than the sorts of things I usually knit or wear, but the yarn was so beautiful and it just spoke to me. This yarn deserved to be something that could be worn in a way that show cased its beauty. The ribbon adds an even foofier touch right where you need it: at the center of the neck for a dramatic closure.

Simple lace and slipped stitches make this neckwarmer look much more complex than it actually is. Perfect for an adventurous beginner.

This cowl is the perfect project if you have a small amount of fingering weight wool or have a single hank of something luxurious and beautiful, like the hand spun BFL this pattern was designed for.
This pattern is also an excellent project for a beginning lace knitter looking to branch out.
Directions are given for two types of cowls; a snugger neck warmer style and a drapey version that can be closed with a shawl pin for a dramatic effect.
The name is a play on words, using the subtle lace design and the name of the spinner who gave me this yarn to design with, Jen Hintz of Fibro Fibers.

Polaris Socks

The Polaris Star (or North Star) is the brightest star in Ursa Major which is the constellation that adorns the Alaska state flag. For my first sock design I wanted something that was meaningful to me, pretty and also simple enough for new sock knitters to tackle. This sock is that; Alaska is my home state and I have always been particularly drawn to images of stars, which I find to be very pretty and the simple lace chart is a great way for new sock knitters to do something more complex than a stockinette sock but without the challenge of an all over pattern to work around.

The pattern features a full page chart for the lace motif and toe up construction perfect for magic loop.

Yarns suggested – South West Trading Company Jezebel
Yarn weight – Light Fingering / 3 ply
Gauge – 8 stitches and 12 rows = 1 inch in stockinette
Needle size – US 0 / 2.0 mm (US 1½ / 2.5 mm)
Sizes available – sm/med (med/large)

Chopstick Sock

Price: $3.00

A fast and fun sock that uses those great variegated sock yarns you’ve been hoarding! Finally a way to use up those interesting color ways without having to knit boring stockinette socks. The simple slipped stitch pattern moves the colors around a little bit to make a textured sock but the pattern is easy enough to memorize within a few repeats. Looks great in just about any sock yarn from solid to highly variegated.

Classic top down construction with a heel flap and gusset and grafted toe.

You Will Need:
US 1 (2, 3) needles
1 hank of fingering weight yarn (I recommend Green Sheep Fingering by The Unique Sheep)
