Star Stitch Headband

Dani Modeling Star Stitch Headband
You will need:
US7 straight needles
1 ball Rowan All Seasons Cotton
1 button
Darning needle

Special techniques:
• Star Stitch
o (MS): p3tog on left needle, wrap yarn around once on working needle, then purl same 3 sts together again.

Directions:
CO 7

Knit 4 rows in stockinette (this will be the button side)

Row 5 (RS): K1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1
Row 6: purl

Rep these two rows 6 times (19 sts), ending with a knit row, so you can begin star stitch on a purl row.

Begin Star Stitch/Body:

Row 1 (WS): p2, *MS, p1* rep to last 5 sts, MS, p2
Rows 2 and 4: Knit across
Row 3: p4, MS, p1, MS, p1, MS, p4

Rep these 4 rows for 15 inches (measure from where the star stitch pattern begins), be sure to end with a plain knit row!

Begin decreases:

Row 1 (WS): purl across
Row 2: k1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1

Rep these 2 rows until 7 sts remain
On next RS row: k2, BO3 , k2
Next WS row: k2, CO 3, k2
Knit 3 rows (garter stitch) and BO all sts.

Break yarn, weave in ends and attach button to other end.

Note: you may wish to block this so that the edges don’t curl.
